The Berylune Blog

ManE is home!
Much to Gladys and Beryl's delight, ManE has returned from his long stay in the U S of A. We've been  enjoying pictures of  ManE's adventures over on his Knitted Man blog. Judging by the delicious looking food he helped Zoë and Paul eat, we're surprised he can still fit in his knitted jumper!

Washi Wednesday
This week's Washi Wednesday follows on from last week quite nicely. If you are a bit clumsy with a craft knife, why not let your wounds heal in style?

 Washi covered plasters!

Our new delivery of washi finally arrived last week. Our parcel was supposed to be here a couple of months ago, but our supplier unfortunately didn't note my new delivery address and posted it to the old one. Which is such a...
Bees settling in
Over the weekend, Nic & Mum suited up to check on the bees in their new hive. They've been working hard - they have built quite a bit of comb and the queen was spotted and seems happy enough...

 Much nicer than Regent Street.

Not sure what a happy bee looks like, something like this I suppose-

Friday Finds
Yes, I went to the cinema, visited Warwick University, made a quiche and watched X-men movies back to back whilst knitting (yes, me, knitting. Continental style and everything), so completely forgot to blog yesterday! Sorry!

So, this week's Friday Find comes from Nic and my Mum. A swarm of bees landed in our back garden this week, then took off and made their way over to Regent Street, where Mum...
Washi Wednesday!
Ok. So here's the thing I was working on last week and failed to complete! I got some magnetic strip, covered it in Washi and trimmed the edges in to either torn-looking edges or sharp flag-style edges. They work a treat on my boring notice board!

 Baby, I'm your man.

It's been a bit manic.

The last few weeks have whizzed by. We were insanely busy getting the Etsy Craft Party sorted. Then I had to get my VAT return done (I hate it, but at least it means I'm never more than 3 months behind on accounts work...). Things started to return to normal last week. We had a lovely knit & natter on Thursday with three new faces. Then Saturday came, and with it back to back workshops, with...
Friday Finds - Tick Tock
This week's Friday Find has two bits. The first is a beautiful wind-up Vega alarm clock that Amy & I found with Fiona. It has a comforting tick and a ring that will rouse you from the deepest slumber! The second bit is a scruffy old suitcase, made beautiful with a fabric panel, glued in place with Mod Podge. Ahh, we're loving Mod Podge. Amy did this with another suitcase at home, which she's using...
Washi Wednesday
I spent this afternoon making something cool for Washi Wednesday, really I did. It involved a craft knife and a cutting mat. I mounted something on a wall, cleaned something, found some pretty things (and pretty boys) to go with it. I grabbed my camera, got it in focus and pressed the button. Only to find my memory card is still at the shop. I'm sorry Washi lovers, I just couldn't be bothered to...
Drilling bunnies
At first, it was scary and looked like this:

But then it became magical, and now looks like this:
Bunny necklace £7.50

We're going back to our Market-selling roots on Sunday! It's 'Independents Day' and there is to be a market made up of Leamington's very best independent shops on the Parade. Our friends from Driftwood, Sydna, Magpie, Lockhart & Lace and Spangleswill be there, to name but a few -...
Friday Finds
Today's find is a set of six 70's (we think) Pyrex Drinkups. We've had squat ones before, (click here to see some of them), but I like that these are tall as they're great for lattes! Additionally, multiple colours means Amy can display them in rainbow order.

Washi Wednesday
You thought I'd forgotten, didn't you?

Amy has covered one of our light switches in washi! Oh, the joy. We've been joined in our washi-worship today by Kiara over at Bakery Cakery. It's catching.

We also got a mention over on the Crafty Magazine blog today - click here to read what they've said about the Etsy Craft Party we organised with Zoë at Sew Make Believe and Lara from Sewsmith. Thanks...
July's Book Club choices
No, we're not kidding.

I have a message about Book Club from Zoë:
The first rule of Book Club: You do not talk about Book Club.

Not really, I made that up. Here it is:

Our next book club choice is up to you! We have narrowed it down to two contrasting options: Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy or The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Please leave us a comment on this blog post or on our Fac...
Wow. Just wow.
Thank you all, so, so much! All 75+ people (we lost count), that came to our Etsy craft party and made it fabulous.

We ate, drank and crafted. We carved rubber stamps, made cardboard owls, sewed felt brooches, made macrame bracelets, drilled and glued key rings, made washi tape jewellery, knitted, nattered and generally had a ball!

Thank you Amy, for working your socks off for two days straight, to...
Friday Finds - Vintage fabric packs
Our Friday Finds this week come from all of us, and have been accumulated over several years, but they are finds nonetheless! Amy, Zoë and I all adore vintage fabrics, especially retro bedding. In order to make anything fun with it, we think you need at least two contrasting bits. So we have pooled our collections to make these fabulous fabric packs!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the...
Washi Wednesday
This week's Washi Wednesday is from Zoë. We have already had washi-covered pegs, but this time we've gone miniature! The pegs Zoë used have a teeny magnetic strip on the back, so can attach mini notes or labels to appropriate metal surfaces, like say fridges or cake tins. Mmmm....cake....

Well I don't know what she's on about, all these pegs look massive to me Beryl.

Another catalogue pose.
I crocheted Nic a Bender hat.

Rock on.

Maybe Zoidberg next?

Paul made himself a tie! From scratch and everything!

There is something really interesting in the distance...

If you fancy having a go at making one for yourself, or for your Dad (don't forget it's Father's day tomorrow!), I found a great tutorial here. We think the wilder the fabric, the better.

Friday Finds
This week's find comes from Zoë :

A fab retro key store!

As Zoë doesn't have a tool shed, she has decided we can sell it in the shop! I think it's melamine and from the 70s. I love the illustrations, they remind be of books and cartoons from my childhood.

P...A...R...T...Y...!

Only a week to go! A box of very exciting goodies has arrived from Etsy - here are some of it's contents:
 Oooh

Amy and Zoë spent Wednesday organising supplies for the rest of the projects we have planned. Many of you have been asking us exactly what we'll be getting up to on the night - have a look at our pinterest board to see the kind of things we have in mind. You can expect to pick from at...
Washi Wednesday
Greetings Washi lovers! I've borrowed a picture from a fabulous Belgian blogger this week (well, I assume it's fabulous, I can't understand a word of it, but the pictures are amazing!):

Click here for more pretty pictures of Lou's Car Track

How cool does that look? 6 million mega-fonzies, maybe even 7.

Julie also has an inspiring Etsy shop - I especially like her hand printed zip up pouches and cloud...
A thing of beauty
Remember the Berylune banner in rainbow ordered retro fabric from Fiona's beautiful pictures?

Amy decided to make a retro-patchwork-rainbow lamp shade as an example for Saturday's workshop. Naturally.
