The Berylune Blog

Friday Finds
Zoë sat down to have a wee read of her new copy of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine this week, and imagine her surprise when she found us mentioned?

They seem to like our cute pin tins as much as we do! If you fancy a read, issue 4 is out now.

What a year
What an amazing year we've had!

We've completely changed our logo to something we think suits us far better.

We're stocking brands we love and have more home made items than we've ever had before. We trashed the shop and re-arranged it so the layout is much more to our liking.

Our craft workshops have become increasingly popular, we're really proud of the fantastic skills people can now learn in the...
I wish it could be Christmas every day
Well, no I don't really. It would soon lose its lustre wouldn't it? As you get older, it seems that time passes more quickly, but paradoxically, Christmases seem to get further apart!

We spent time with family and friends. Ate more than seemed possible (and the leftovers just keep coming). Man-Egraced us with his presence (that little chap has a very busy schedule!), I think he enjoyed Amy's...
*Guest Post* Berylune Knit & Natter Christmas Special
We have a special guest post from ManE! :

Last night was the Berylune Knit and Natter Christmas Special. I got to wear my special Christmas hat that Amy made for me and drink mulled wine!

There was an impressive party buffet so we had lots to eat, but very little knitting got done.

I ate quite a lot of food and so did everyone else. There was hardly anything left by the end of the night.

Silent Night
The elves have been busy in the shop! Zoë has been busy making things as fast as they sell. Amy has been busy making other things, wrapping soap, packing boxes for the delivery lady to collect and being generally cheery to customers. I've been performing very important bean counting services, taking pretty pictures of the things they make and adding them to Not on the High Street and our Big...
Washing Wednesday
I feel better! We've been really busy! I've been taking more photos for selling goodies online (this is all I ever seem to do these days, which won't impress the VAT man come the end of the month). Here are some of my pictures for you to ogle. Don't judge them too harshly, I'm not Fiona:

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
OK, so we've been pretty Christmassy in the shop for a while now, but this last week or so it's all gone a bit potty. On Saturday, people were actually hovering outside, waiting for space to get in the shop! Add to that our recent foray in to the world of online selling, and we've been pretty busy!

Unfortunately, I've been even less use than normal. I was feeling pretty poorly last week, then I...
Friday Finds
I've had a number of excellent retro finds this week. Woefully, they're mostly going to be Christmas presents, so I can't very well reveal them here. So here are a couple of new things that arrived this week instead:

Washi Wednesday. No, wait.
I've had a cold. Which is a poor excuse for missing Washi Wednesday, I know. But I figured you'd all forgive me upon seeing these, which arrived today:

Washi Wednesday

This week, Zoë made a Washi party bag using kraft paper. We think they would also be great for wrapping small presents to go under the tree. They look good in baking parchment or waxed paper for loose sweeties too, click here for a tutorial.

The Angry Weather
We received a very exciting delivery this week. We've been drooling over Iveth's beautiful jewellery for a while now. We love her 'Angry Weather' designs and now they have arrived, we are very impressed with the feel and quality of them. They are designed and hand made in Montreal with obvious care and attention. Each necklace comes in it's own hand printed bag. We know what we'll be asking Father...
Washi Wednesday
Why not decorate your dull food clips with Washi to make them pretty? Why indeed.

Miscellaneous Monday

What on earth is this? Yes, we know it's a keyring. And it's some sort of little man on skis. But seriously, what is it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Friday Finds
If, like myself, you have a younger sibling or even two or three, you will probably find yourself missing a good deal of your childhood memorabilia. My Ladybird books, along with other classics like 'The Cat in the Hat', my original 1980s My Little Ponies and my magic Family Tree House, were handed down to Amy. I don't remember being asked if this was ok. I presume I didn't care much for them at...
Batteries need charging, apparently
I failed to take any pictures of Washi yesterday because my camera battery was flat. I even have a spare, but that was flat too. I suck, sorry.

Have you noticed fellas wandering the streets with questionable facial fluff over the past week or so? It would appear that Movember is upon us once more! Remember Nate and his lovely blog postslast year? Well, this year he's gone one step further and made...
That's my house that is.
So, Fiona came to photograph my house recently.

Yes, I have a wooden Ark in my living room.

Amy, Zoë and I have relatively similar tastes in our houses - we're all pretty thrifty. Nothing we have in our homes costs very much, aside from the untold number of hours spent finding, painting, covering, restoring and revamping. Don't get me wrong, we have the odd luxury. For example, Nic kindly bought...
Choices for our next Book Club

We have gone for another interesting mix for the next book club selection. We need you to choose between A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, or World War Z by Max Brooks. Please vote for your choice by Wednesday 6th November, either by commenting below or via our Facebook event page by clicking here.

We will be discussing the chosen book on Wednesday 4th December from 6pm. There might even...
Friday Finds
This week's Friday Find is already sold. Sorry. I guess someone is getting a treat for Christmas!

Amy and I have both had an exhausting day, although we weren't together. Christmas landed in the shop, with lots of sales and a delivery of Christmas decorations, so Amy was rushed off her feet. I spent the day with the lovely, talented Fiona, shifting furniture, hammering things in to walls and...
